Ms. Marian S. Ramos
MARIAN S. RAMOS is the Head Reference Librarian of the University Library, University of the Philippines Diliman’s General Reference and Electronic Resources Section. Her ten-year experience in the field of reference and information service ushered her into teaching the same course in the University’s School of Library and Information Studies. She has been a speaker in various seminars and conferences for information professionals in the Philippines specializing reference and information services, electronic resources and access to information. Ms. Ramos has earned her Bachelor and Master Degrees in Library and Information Science from the University of the Philippines.
Mrs. Salvacion M. Arlante
Prof. Salvacion Manuel-Arlante has just retired as University Librarian/Archivist of the University of the Philippines Diliman and is now Library Consultant of UP. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service and Master of Library Science, both from the University of the Philippines and an Advanced Course in Library Science and Documentation, Centre International de Perfectionnement Professionnel et Technique, International Labour Organization, Turin, Italy. She has had training in computerized Information Systems in ILO Geneva, Switzerland and in UNESCO Paris. A professorial lecturer of graduate library science courses at the UP School of Library and Information Studies, she handles library management, collections development, readers services, publishing, marketing library and in formation services, archives and records management and Filipiniana historical and archival resources.
She was a recipient of a number of local and foreign scholarships. Ms. Arlante participated in several local and international conferences and has been invited as keynote or resource speaker, lecturer or panelist in many of these events, among which is a paper on “The Microcomputer and Unintelligible Languages : the Philippine Experience” presented to the 2nd Asian and Pacific Conference on New Information Technology for Librarians and Information Professionals, Educational Media Specialists and Technologists in Singapore and which was also accepted in the 3rd Conference on the Application of the Computer in Information and Documentation Centers and Libraries at Loughborough University of Technology in England. She has, to her credit, a number of published articles in professional journals.
